YUCK!

Can you find our pumpkin? He smells!
Here he is close up... yikes, he's kind of weird! He's moldy.

Stone Soup

MR is busy peeling a potato for our stone soup.
Bring what you've got and put it in the pot!
LE carefully cuts a cucumber.
More potatoes.
The boys get a lesson in how to cut a potato from CK's mom.
Our stone soup is ready to go on the stove. Can you find the stone?
Shake, shake, shake... KS is making butter.
CR cuts another apple for our fruit salad.
In go some more apples. NP and JN are helping to make a yummy fruit salad.
FR stirs the fruit salad. It looks yummy!
Everyone is busy adding to the salad. Can't wait to taste it!
The Cove kinders went to the Thanksgiving Friendship feast as Indians. The first graders were the pilgrims and our guests were our fifth grade book buddies. We met in a huge circle in the old gym, told what we were thankful for and sang the "Johnny Appleseed Song" and "Open, Shut Them", a new song that LP and KR taught us. Then we enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal of stone soup, fruit salad, rolls, butter (we made it ourselves!), and pumpkin pie cake. And don't forget the popcorn - the Indians at the first Thanksgiving also shared popcorn with the pilgrims.

BOOT SCOOTIN' RODEO

Our Cove 5th graders put on a Boot Scootin' Rodeo for us. There were many different activites for the kinders and first graders to do and they had a great time! Thank you, 5th Grade!
It's cow milkin' time!
Everyone tries their hand at milking the cow.
Around the campfire we go!
JM gets a horse back ride.
Now that's a cowgirl!
Talkin' round the campfire.
Ride that stick horse MR - go cowgirl, go!
Get ready, set, throw!
These cowboys are intent on their instructions for the competition ahead.
Hmmmm... I think I can do it. I know I can do it!
Ride 'em, EH, ride 'em!
Just waitin' our turn.
They're off...
The cowboys are roundin' up the pink piggies.
It's milkin' time at the ol' rodeo.
LP and SB try their hand at milkin'.
It's a ring toss...
CR gets a stamp on his hand.
AH and LE are making play dough figures at the Boot Scootin' Rodeo.
I got cotton candy!
MR and RB enjoy their cotton candy and the after rodeo party!
NP is enjoying his cotton candy too!
SB shares the good times with her little sister.

KS and FR are all smiles... it was a great day!

What Do You Predict?

We predict our pumpkin will rot...grow...decay-it decomposes...get rotten...crinkle up...smell gross...grow really big, tall...smell pumpkiny-gross...smell rotten...turn gray and icky...turn green...stay orange...go black and gray...be gross, sticky, icky, and you couldn't even see the eyes...gray on the inside, outside will start to rot... Now, what do you predict?

Red Ribbon Week

Cove students are learning about drug prevention this week. It is the senior project of FH. We are learning that red means we are drug free. Kinders have worn red shirts, ribbons, socks, scarves, and hats this week. We've printed our red handprint on a poster for the hallway and taken part in a coloring contest.
