JS helps to stake out the outline of the Mayflower. It was 24 feet wide by 90 feet long. The height of the 'tween deck (where most of the Pilgrims stayed) was only 5 1/2 feet. 102 Pilgrims stayed in this area for 65 days.
These boys got their tickets, #97 was a child and #9 was one of the crew members on the Mayflower.

Mr. Patton tells us about the Pilgrims - there were 50 men, 18 women, and 34 children. One baby was born aboard the ship and he was named Oceanus.
Here are two of the 30 sailors on the Mayflower.
By the time the ship came into Plymouth Harbor, it was winter. The crew and passengers had not had fresh food in several weeks. The cold and damp, along with their poor nutrition caused many people to get sick. That first winter half of the crew and half of the passengers died. Of the 50 men, 27 died. Of the 18 women, 14 died so the first Thanksgiving was tended by only 4 married women. Of the 34 children only 10 died. It is believed that the mothers gave up their food so their children would survive.
