PENGUINS

JS cutting the wings for his pet penguin.

NS writes her name on her penguin.

More cutting and careful concentration!

Putting the baby penguin inside the egg...

The girls are painting the science research centers found in Antarctica.

Lots of orange paint - this idea came from a book we
read called, A Penguin Story by Antoinette Portis.

RH's egg...

Antarctica

Happy little penguins floating on their icebergs.

GD swims his penguin through the antarctic water in search of krill.

EW shows off our Emperor penguin puppet!

This penguin is keeping his egg warm by setting the egg on
his feet - looks like there's fish close by!

Eat Like a Penguin

Sardines and shrimp and salmon - oh my!
Look at our graph - most of us liked to eat like a penguin!

X is for X-ray

MN and EW writing their names on their sun x-ray prints.
The rules:  You can put anything on the paper but you must include an X.

We set our sun sensitive paper outside for 2 minutes, brought them inside
and rinsed in cold water for 1 minute.  The image got darker with time.

We love our prints!

Working on the letter V

Vacuum the V...  We couldn't really vacuum the V so we made it look like that's what we did.  We put a stencil on the polar fleece, sprayed it with adhesive, and sprinkled it with shredded paper, sequins, and glitter.  Pull off the paper stencil and voila - a vacuumed V!

SPONGE Exploration

Careful...careful...

Elbow deep in water.

How many sponges are in this bucket?!?

Look at this!

OG and MN exploring many different sponges.

One wet pink sponge, one dry pink sponge.

Sponges - can you find the sponge that came from the sea?

Whoa...

Fill the sponge with water AND WATCH WHAT HAPPENS!

Take a sponge...

Add some water...
What do you get? FUN!

JS and RM check all the different sponges.
Did you know that sponges can be found in the ocean?

Awesome.

Just squeeze and watch what happens.

Hey, this is fun!
